Sheila

Thanks to her first single, "L'école est finie", released in 1962, Sheila established herself as one of the charismatic singers of the 1960s.

She would go on to release hits like "Les rois mages", "Les gondoles à Venise", and "Spacer".

With "Sheila" (1962), her first 45 rpm record, she quickly found success with "L'école est finie" (1962), followed by "Première surprise partie" (1963), her first job-themed song ("L'heure de la sortie", 1966), and her first heartbreak anthem ("Adios amor", 1967)...

The 1970s began with a bang, marked by the triumphant "Les rois mages" (1971). The era of pigtails and teen friends was over, and disco was taking over. In 1975, Sheila explored the genre with a French version of "Doctor's Orders" ("Les ordres du docteur"), but the real turning point came two years later with the release of "Love Me Baby", performed by a mysteriously named group, S.B. Devotion.

It was, of course, Sheila, who revealed her true identity once the track was fully embraced by the public. She then released a string of disco hits, including "Singin' in the Rain" and, most notably, "Spacer", which earned her a spot on the American charts.

Sheila's career is far from limited to the 60s and 70s. After 62 years in the industry, her 80th birthday will be celebrated in 2025 with a special anniversary tour.
