Toukan Toukän is like setting off in a canoe or taking off in a biplane toward a melancholic indie-pop sound, where every note has been chosen with love. Somewhere between Metronomy’s groove, The Dø’s folk-inspired freedom, and L’Impératrice’s sunny electro, we lose ourselves in their energetic, colorful, and captivating music, sung in both French and English.
After a colorful first chapter — marked by dozens of concerts as far afield as China and South America, a spot on the Emily in Paris soundtrack, and a strong connection with France Inter, FIP, and Radio Nova — Toukan Toukän is now embracing a fresh wave of newness and a new album in the works!
The duo is now joined by additional musicians, both on stage and in the studio, to make their decidedly pop-oriented new songs even more danceable and organic. To tide fans over until the album’s release, a first video preview of this new lineup has been released, titled « Green Room Session », featuring three previously unreleased tracks.
Toukan Toukän is setting its course while letting itself be carried by the wind — the wind of the album Sirocco — further emphasizing this desire for freedom and connection with the audience, as if building a shelter together against the end of the world. It’s a bright, curious pop that feels good.
